"The best of all keepsakes... No other article of jewelry, gift or favor, is so valued as the Locket. It is a symbol of Faithfulness, cherished by the wearer for memory's sake and for the loved secret it holds. The Locket never grows old but becomes dearer with long possession."
These words appeared in the October 1912 issue of The People's Home Journal. The words were part of an advertisement for the Wightman and Hough Company. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, the W&H Co. specialized in quality gold lockets. This locket is one of their beautiful designs. The antique circa 1910's locket features a star like engraving set with a single beautiful sparkling stone (possibly a diamond chip). The back of the locket remains plain and monogram-free which is hard to find. While I try to keep my collection strictly to lockets in mint condition, the back of this locket shows a slight depression (hard to see). This wonderful round locket opens to reveal two removable frames waiting to hold your beloved photographs. Inside you will, also, find the signature W & H Co heart (their tag line was "there is a heart in every locket") which "is your assurance of correct style, exquisite finishes, and dependable quality." I placed this very special antique locket on a new long necklace of 14k gold filled chain hand finished with a trigger lobster clasp and ring.
Necklace Chain Length: 25 inches

Signed: "W & H Co." in heart as well as "1/4 Gold Shell"

Caring for your jewelry:
Precious metals such as silver need to be polished from time to time (with the exception of oxidized sterling silver- which does not need to be polished). To extend the time between the polishing of your bright silver, your may store your design in a air tight bag. When your piece does need polishing, I recommend Sunshine sterling silver polishing cloths. If you would like to add a polishing cloth to your order, please contact me through Etsy and I will customize a listing for you. The cost of the cloth is $4.
